Threads users goes upto 100 millon with in a weak

Threads, a social media app created by Meta, the owner of Instagram, has gained over 100 million users in less than five days.
This achievement surpasses the record set by Open AI's ChatGPT app.

Threads was launched on Apple and Android app stores in 100 countries, including the UK, last Wednesday.

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, expressed his surprise at reaching this milestone so quickly. However, Threads is not available in mainland Europe yet due to uncertainties regarding compliance with EU data privacy laws.

Despite the EU setback, Threads has experienced rapid growth. Within the first seven hours of launch, the app attracted 10 million users, which increased to over 30 million by Thursday morning. Within 24 hours, that number more than doubled.

As Threads continues to gain traction and attract millions of users, it remains to be seen how it will evolve and compete in the dynamic social media landscape. With its affiliation with Instagram and Meta's resources, Threads has the potential to establish itself as a prominent player in the social media realm.

Nevertheless, Threads still has a long way to go to catch up with its main competitor, Twitter, which is believed to have 350 million users.

Some Twitter users have become disillusioned since Elon Musk, a billionaire, took over. Under his ownership, thousands of jobs were cut, and various changes were implemented to generate revenue.
Although other competitors like Mastodon and Bluesky have emerged, they have struggled without an established user base.

Threads benefits from its association with Instagram, which has over one billion users.

When signing up for Threads, users can display a link to their profile in the app on their Instagram profile, but there is an option to hide this.

To use Threads, users must have an Instagram account. Deleting the Threads profile requires deleting the associated Instagram profile, but deactivating the Threads profile will not affect the Instagram account.

Deactivation means the Threads profile, posts, and interactions with other users' posts will not be visible.

Since Threads' launch, Twitter has threatened legal action against the rival app.

Twitter accused Mark Zuckerberg of unlawfully using Twitter's trade secrets and intellectual property to create Threads, claiming that Meta had hired former employees with access to Twitter's confidential information. However, Meta has denied these allegations.

Threads allows users to post up to 500 characters of text, surpassing Twitter's limit of 280 characters. Both apps enable users to post links, images, and videos, but their content posting guidelines differ. Threads prohibits nudity and explicit NSFW (not-safe-for-work) images. Furthermore, unlike Twitter, there is currently no desktop version of Threads available.
